Heavy fighting in Mullaittivu frontier: Troops seize LTTE weapons



Heavy fighting that erupted flanked by troops and LTTE in more than a few locations at the Mullaittivu battle border has left over 40 terrorists killed and 35 injured Saturday (Jan 17).
Troops have also seized weapons, mines, gun bombs, T-56 assault riffles and many warlike items, military sources said. The slain terrorist bodies were healthier in universal areas at Puthukkudiyirippu and South of Udayarkattukulama by forward power elements of the TF-3 and TF-2 troops respectively. Meanwhile, troops of the TF-2 have swarming an LTTE settlement base and uncovered 200 anti-workers (AP), 05x 81mm mortar bombs, a water bowser and clip and 02x anti-tank mines in universal area Udayarkattukulama. Also, troops have exposed 5x T-56 assault riffles, 01x RPG launcher, 01x T-81 physical assault riffle and a LMG weapon in universal area South of Udayarkattukulama, sources said.
Close battles were fought in the outer edge of Mullaittivu all through yesterday by troops of TF-2, TF-3, TF-4, 57 Div, 58 Div and 59 Div, Wanni security sources said. 19 more terrorists were reported killed and at least 16 others upset at Puliyampokkani and North of Dharmapuram, in the limits of Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu districts by troops of the 58 Division, safety sources further said.
Separately, TF-4 troops now operating in universal areas at Pirappuveidduvani and Karurelankandal have also detained weapons from LTTE following intense hostility, safety sources supposed.
