Army 59 Div captures LTTE camp and a boat manufacturing factory- South of Puthukkudiyiruppu



Sri Lanka Army 59 Divisions soldiers lead by Brigadier Nandana Udawatta yesterday (Jan 17) entered into the South of Puthukkudiyiruppu tropical forest areas. According to the battleground reports, troops have captured a highly carrying weapons LTTE camp and a boat developed factory from the Maruthampuvel area during yesterday's (Jan 17) operations.
Infantrymen of 12 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (12 SLLI) comprehensive their forward limits further towards Puthukkudiyiruppu LTTE stronghold amidst strong confrontation from the terrorists. Troops following serious clashes, found 7 bodies of male LTTE cadres along with 7 T-56 riffles with 1000 bullets and 1 light machine gun (LMG). Troops are now consolidating their positions about 6 km south of Puthukkudiyiruppu.
Meanwhile, infantrymen of 14 Gajaba Regiment (14 GR) captured a highly carrying weapons LTTE camp situated in the Maruthampuvel area following daylong clashes with the terrorists. Troops establish 06 overhead bunkers, 02 permanent buildings, and 06 temporary huts inside the terrorist site. Also, troops found 3 T-56 riffles and a radio message set following clashes erupted somewhere else. Intercepted radio infrastructure revealed heavy compensation to the terrorists.
Infantrymen of 4 Vijayaba Infantry Regiment (4 VIR) captured a complicated boat developed ability of the LTTE situated north of Maruthampuvel last night. Troops found 2 fast attack boats, 2 water jets and 7 small boats second-hand for suicide missions inside the facility supposed to be funded by overseas NGOs. Elsewhere, troops busy in daylong clashes with the terrorist and found a body of a slain LTTE cadre.
