Troops busy in offensive process in Jaffna theatre of battle have overrun the LTTE's first Forward Defence Line (FDL) in Muhamalai and Kilaly this morning, 20 November, murder scores of LTTE cadres throughout fierce gun battle, military sources in Jaffna said.
Despite the LTTE's stiff confrontation, troops have complete their planned advances minimizing wounded as LTTE terrorists were creation their fullest strength to defend strategically significant defence line in Muhamalai and Kilaly.
LTTE terrorists have constructed an earth bund just in front of the terror defence line from Nagarkovil to Kilaly, both north and south to the A-9, Jaffna - Kandy main road. Fierce gun battle erupted as last Saturday, 15 November, as troops were advancing to control the terror earth bund. In continuous military push launched by 53 and 55 Divisions, terrorists were not able to defend their defence line.
According to the sources received, two LTTE mortar launchers have been destroyed while another two partly upset in security forces' weaponry attack. LTTE vehicles carrying strengthening were also under attack and LTTE earth commanders were completely disordered due to the capable unpleasant thrust launched by the troops.
