Daegu Welfare Society in S.Korea donates wheelchairs to disabled war heroes






The Sri Lanka Daegu Welfare civilization in South Korea collaborating with Seva Vanitha Unit of Defence Ministry have donated wheelchairs for the war heroes, who had sacrificed their limbs while serving in the battleground. The donation was total at a purpose held at the defence ministry structure this afternoon, 31st October.
The Sri Lankan expatriates in the South Korea have initiated a welfare scheme to donate wheel chairs to over 350 disabled war heroes in armed forces, Police and Civil Defence Force. Public Trustee of Sri Lanka, Mr Sarath Senevirathna, was the main manager of the scheme.
On an ask made by the donators, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa handed over 150 wheelchairs to the military at the Ministry structure, as the first stage of the project . A representatives of Daegu Welfare Society told defence.lk that one more 210 chairs will be donated in the near future.
Speaking at the rite Mr Dammika Bandudewa, the representative of Daegu Welfare Society of Sri Lanka and Korea, said that Sri Lankans in South Korea are willing to make additional aid for the happiness of the disabled military who had made huge sacrifices for the motherland.
The Defence Secretary, Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the President of Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Ioma Rajapaksa, Public Trustee of Sri Lanka, Mr Sarath Senevirathna, Additional Secretaries of the Defence Ministry, Officers of Armed forces, Police, Civil Defence Force were here at the occasion.
