North & South reunited; National Flag & Army flags flying high at EPS









Historical time was clear Saturday (10) morning by the troops of Security Forces-JAFFNA (SF-J) and Security Forces-Wanni (SF-W) who hoisted the National Flag, Army Flag and other military instance flags at the Elephant Pass symbolizing the much predictable link of the Jaffna Peninsula with the mainland along the of A-9.
SF-J troops headed by its Commander Major General Mendaka Samarasinghe and SF-W troops headed by its commander Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, with the National flag in their forefronts, walked to the north and south in that order and met at the Elephant Pass bridge around 11.00 a.m..
The joyous occasion was celebrated with handshakes, hugging and swap of admiring language by soldiers of all position to each other before the two SF commanders hoisted the flags of their own head office on either side of the countrywide flag and Army flag already flying.
Next, General Officers strongGOC) of the 53 Division Brigadier KAMAL Gunaratne, GOC of the 55 Division Brigadier Prasanna Silva and the GOC of the 58 Division Brigadier Shavindra Silva let the flags of their Divisions fly after that to the flags of their own SF head office.
Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers of all Units worried in the operations to jail the Elephant Pass were there the length of with their troops on this memorable occasion.
