20 Lorries with humanitarian aid enter Wanni

wThe government made preparations to send in one more fleet of lorries with necessary food substance for those displaced and deprived of essential needs by LTTE in the non-liberated Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu districts on Monday (Oct 13).
A food convoy consisting of 20 lorries from Vavuniya has crossed over to the non-liberated zone yesterday afternoon from the Omanthai Entry/Exit point, Army sources report. The group carrying stocks of dhal, rice, coconuts, sugar , flour, spices, oil, grams, potatoes and cereals for children has complete its way across Mundirippu, Nedunkandal, Mankulama and Oddusudan areas where thousands of trapped civilians were reported living.
According to military, the food stocks were thoroughly checked before they passed through the Omanthai Entry/ Exit point.
Earlier, on 3rd October, fifty-one lorries with 650 tons of dry food were send to Wanni and dispersed among IDPs under the management of the Government Agents in both Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu.
