31 LTTE terrorists killed, scores wounded in yesterday's clashes

LTTE terrorists have received heavy beating at the Wanni and Northern battlefronts on Sunday (June 22), as troops surged forward into non-liberated positions ahead of the LTTE defences killing at least 31 terrorists, while reports confirmed that 70 others were also wounded in the fighting.

At the Mannar theater of battle, troops have destroyed 8 LTTE bunkers killing 20 terrorists and injuring 34 others, MCNS reported. According to sources, the clashes were reported from Charaddikulam, Chalampan, Vediyamuruppu, Kovitkanchi and Ampadiilupukulam general areas in Mannar.

MCNS also reported that 3 terrorists were killed, 30 wounded at the Welioya battlefront in fighting erupted with LTTE in general areas at North of Janakapura, Manikindamalei, Veddankern. 8 soldiers were also reported wounded during the clashes, while the sources added that troops have uncovered 96AP mines and 6 IEDs during search operations conducted.

Separately, at the Vavuniya battlefront, 8 LTTE terrorists were killed and 6 wounded MCNS reported adding that, the clashes were mainly reported from general area Periyamadu.

Meanwhile, at the Jaffna front in general areas at Kadirathanan and Ponnar 2 LTTE terrorists were killed, sources further said.
