C-4 explosives, detonators found in search operation at Wellawatta

Special Task force personnel and Wellawatta Police have found 3kg of C-4 high explosives, 5 electrical detonators and a micro pistol with a magazine during a search operation conducted in Wellawatta area, yesterday at around 11.50 p.m.

The explosives were found hidden inside a privately owned communication centre, following information obtained through an arrested suspect for the IED explosion that injured 27 civilians at Wellawatta on Wednesday.

Police also released a photo within hours of the incident seeking public assistance to track the terror suspect.
