Three LTTE suspects gunned down in cordon operation - Akkaraipattuwa [Updated]

Latest reports from the East confirm that the body of the remaining LTTE suspects has been found with gunshot injuries. Two LTTE suspects were gunned down during a Police and Army combined cordon and search operations at Pallaikudiruppu in Akkaraipatuwa this morning (June 10). According to the defence sources in the area, an armed group of 3 suspects had lobbed two hand grenade at the Police and Army personnel engaged in the search operation around 7 am.

The security forces personnel had also retaliated to the attack and killed two suspects while the other had escaped with gunshot injuries, the sources further said. The body of the third LTTE suspect has been found during the search operation short while ago, the sources added.

Meanwhile , the police sources said , an Identity card bearing a name of Sinhalese person has been found among the belongings of one of the suspect. However, neither the photo of the ID card nor the age matches with any of the suspect , the sources added. Further, investigations are being continued.
