Civil Defence Force Officer honored seizing the Terror mastermind behind bomb blasts

Civil Defence Force (CDF) officer who had arrested LTTE mastermind behind the many bomb blasts including the train blast at Wellawatte on June 4 has been honored by the Ministry of Defence.

On the instruction of Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Department of Civil Defence has promoted woman soldier H. Nandawathi to the rank of Warden with immediate affect. In addition, a reward of 50,000 rupees has been offered to Warden Nandawathi for her exemplary behavior.

While on duty at Irattaperiyakulama roadblock in Vavuniya, Nanadawathi arrested Jatheesan Balasubramaniyam who had attempted escape into Wanni after exploding a bomb targeting innocent civilians. Later, it has been found the suspect had involved in many civilian massacres carried out by the LTTE terrorists in the South.
