Battle regains momentum as floods subside in Kilinochchi







Army 57 Division (57 Div) and Task Force 1 (TF 1) soldiers who have been crumpled up themselves along the western and southern limits of the Kilinochchi town yesterday (Dec 2) started view their onward boundaries extra in to the town area. Army's march towards the LTTE's once managerial hub and symbolically very important town has been slow down by the torrential rains and ensuing floods in the area throughout last two weeks.
According to the defence sources in the battlefield, serious clashes were reported in the south of Adampan area since last morning, as 57 Div soldiers ran at the LTTE bunkers.
In one of the several clashes occurred in the area, troops destroyed an LTTE bunker and claimed heavy damages to the terrorists. In a separate incident, troops found a body of a slain LTTE cadre along with one T-56 riffle during the following search.
Meanwhile, TF1 troops operating in the Nivil area, west of Paranthan confronted with an LTTE group last twilight. Troops claimed heavy damages to the terrorists. Also, snipers deployed in the forward areas reported gunfire down of one LTTE cadre in the same evening.
Separate from the Wanni theatre, troops deployed in the Muhamalai forward defence, in Jaffna theatre , reported shooting down of 2 LTTE cadres during morning hours.
