Army thwarts LTTE counterattacks in Adampan South- Kilinochchi
Troops of the 57 Division have thwarted consecutive attempts made by LTTE to open counterattacks in worldwide area South of Adampan, Kilinochchi, Saturday (Dec 6).
Fierce fighting ensued flanked by troops and LTTE which lasted from 3a.m., until 9p.m., Wanni military sources said. According to reports, terrorists have launched 3 successive counterattacks only to be not present a lot compressed, with over two dozen LTTE injured and two times as many casualties.
Troops have full of activity LTTE with serious Multi-Barrel fire up Launcher (MBRL), arms and gun fire, Wanni military sources extra said.
Terrorists have reserved from the area abandoning dead, weapons and ammunitions, the sources said. LTTE's area earth leaders Velavan and Gopith were also concerned in the unsuccessful attempt, military said citing intercepted LTTE message.
The 57 separation troops are led by Major General Jagath Dias.
