TWanni liberation continues; 14 terrorists killed in yesterday's clashes

Troops engaged in counter terror offensives in the Northern battlefronts yesterday (July 6) claimed 14 terrorists were killed, 8 wounded and 5 more were either killed or wounded in day's battles. Also, 2 soldiers were killed and 5 others were wounded in these incidents.

In the Jaffna theatre of operations, troops confronted with a group of terrorists in the Nagarkovil area last night. Ground troops claimed 3 terrorists were either killed or wounded in this incident.

In a similar incident the Muhamalai area, troops attacked a terror position on the same day evening. Radio monitoring sources confirmed 2 terrorists were killed in this incident.

One soldier was killed during a separate confrontation occurred in the Muhamalai last evening. Also 2 soldiers suffered injuries , one due to anti personnel mine (AP) explosion and the other due to LTTE mortar fire in the same area.

In the Wanni theatre of operations, troops operating in the Vavuniya front confronted with the terrorists in the Navatkulama, Ampaddankulam, Palaimoddai areas during the day and claimed 7 terrorist were killed. Also, one soldier suffered injuries due to an AP mine explosion in the Moddal area during evening hours.

On the Mannar front, one soldier was killed during a confrontation occurred in the Puthukamama area last morning. Meanwhile snipers deployed in the South of Vidattaltivu area claimed to have shot down 3 LTTE cadres during the day.

On the Welioya front , troops had a series of clashes with the terrorists in the areas North of Janakapura , Kiriibbanwewa and Andankulama and claimed 4 terrorists were killed 8 others wounded. Also , 2 soldiers suffered injuries during one of the clashes occurred in the North of Janakapura area last noon.

Limited offensives are continuing.
