Air Force pounds terror strongholds in Tunukkai

Sri Lanka Air Force pounded terror strongholds in the Tunukkai town around 6.30, this evening (Aug 21). Air Force Spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said, that the air raid was carried out using MI 24 helicopter gunships targeting locations where LTTE was giving resistance at approaching troops.

He said that the attack was carried out as a close air support mission to 57 Division troops who are in the process of rounding up the strategically vital Tunukkai town.
