11 terrorists killed, 15 wounded in yesterday's clashes at Wanni

Security forces engaged in the Wanni liberation operations have reportedly killed 11 LTTE terrorists and injured 15 others Tuesday(August 12) during confrontations at the Kilinochchi, Vavuniya and Mullaittivu fronts.

Meanwhile, troops of the 56 Division have reportedly killed a terrorist and injured 2 others during separate confrontations at Navathkulama and Vedamakilam yesterday morning. According to military, 2 soldiers were killed in general area North of Illupaikadavai due to a trapped mine explosion, at around 9.40a.m.

Troops of the Task Force-2 operating at Palaimoddai forced into an LTTE bunker position killed 2 terrorists and injured 4 others yesterday, in addition to 2 soldiers who also sustained wounds during the confrontation.

3 terrorists were also killed and 5 others reported wounded during fighting erupted in general area Palaimoddai since 9.30a.m till 4p.m., on Monday, according to finalized reports received. 3 more terrorists were killed in a separate incident in the same area at around 6.10p.m. At the Eastern Wanni front in general areas North of Andankulama, Kiriibbanwewa and Janakapura security forces continued counter terrorist operations as troops claimed killing 5 terrorists and injuring 4 others yesterday.

A soldier has laid his life and 11 others were reported wounded during the confrontations, sources reported.
