Wanni Liberation; 11 terrorists killed yesterday's clashes

Finalized military reports received from the Wanni and Jaffna warfronts yesterday (May 13), indicate that 11 terrorists were killed and at least 17 others suffered injuries in the day's offensives. Another 22 cadres were reported to have either killed or wounded. In addition, 10 soldiers suffered injuries during these clashes and admitted to hospitals.

In the Jaffna theatre of battle, troops launched an attack at a terror group detected in the Muhamalai front last morning and claimed that one terrorist was either killed or wounded. A sniper deployed in the Eluthumaduwal area claimed that one terrorist was killed on the same day evening. Further, one soldier suffered injuries due to an Anti Personnel (AP) mine explosion at Muhamalai last morning and was admitted to Palaly military hospital.

In the Wanni theatre of battle, troops engaged terror strongholds in all three battlefronts i.e. Mannar, Vavuniya and Welioya throughout the day.

On the Vavuniya front, troops confronted with a group of terrorists detected in the Chinnavalayankaddu area in the forenoon and claimed 2 terrorists were killed and 10 others were injured. In addition, one soldier suffered injuries and was taken to immediate medical attention.

Separately, snipers deployed in the Sivaravankulam, and Mundumurippu areas claimed to have killed 3 terrorists during the day. 2 soldiers suffered injuries due to terror mortar fire and another in AP mine explosions in Navavi, Sivaravankulam and Palaimodai areas respectively. The injured were transferred to Vavuniya and Anuradhapura hospitals.

Meanwhile, troops extending their lines further into the LTTE dominated territory found a vacated terror bunker in the Vairavarpuliyankulam area along with 9 Arul Bombs, 25 hand grenades, and 1 claymore bomb.

On the Mannar front, a sniper deployed in the Alankulama area claimed to have killed one LTTE cadre last morning. Later, one soldier suffered injuries in a confrontation occurred in the Nedunkandal area. On the Welioya front, troops had daylong clashes in the North of Janakapura, Kiriibbanwawa, Andankulama, and Vadukkanari area and claimed 4 terrorists were killed and at least 7 others were injured. In addition, in the same clashes it was reported that 21 terrorists were either killed or wounded. 3 soldiers suffered injuries due to AP mine explosions and another due to terror small arms fire.

Meanwhile, troops conducting clearing operations in the area removed 114 AP mines 20 improvised bombs
