Wanni operation continues: LTTE cadres killed in clashes

Military reports received from northern battlefronts on Sunday (April 27) revealed that 19 terrorists had been killed and at least 8 others suffered injuries. Also, 2 solders had been killed and 9 others suffered injuries during these battles.

In the Jaffna theatre of operations, troop engaged small arms at a group of terrorists detected in the Muhamalai area last afternoon and claimed one terrorist was either killed or wounded.

Elsewhere, troops acting on civilian information uncovered a claymore mine weighing 5 kg with accessories at a cemetery at Naundil on the same day afternoon.

In the Wanni theatre of operations, troops battling on the Vavuniya front claimed that 7 terrorists were killed due to clashes erupted in the Palampiddi, Chinnavalayankaddu, and Kallikkulam areas during the day. Also, 2 soldiers were killed and another suffered inhjuries due to explosion of improvised bombs in Madhu and Vedamakilam area.

On the Mannar front, troops claimed to have killed 7 terrorists and wounded 3 others in the clashes erupted in Kallikkulam, Veppankulam and Manthai area yesterday.

On the Mannar front, troops had several clashes with the terrorists in the Andankulama, Janakapura, Kiriibbanwawa and Kokkuthuduwal area during course of the day. Troops confirmed 5 terrorists were killed and 5 others suffered injuries while 8 soldiers also sustained injuries in these clashes.

Limited operations are continuing.
