Soldiers of Army 57 Division now manning the active defence in the rear areas of the main theatre of the battle attacked a group of LTTE infiltrators detected in the Piramanthalkulam North area this morning (Apr 2).
According to the defence sources, the quarrel occurred about 11.45 AM. Troops throughout the following search found 3 bodies of slain LTTE cadres, 30 disguise uniforms alike to those damaged by the Sri Lankan soldiers, six T-56 rifles, two radio message sets , eight military packs, two claymore mines , C-4 high explosives , one IED, the length of with other military items.

Clashes continue south of A-35
The Sri Lanka Army 57 Division, Task Force 3, Task Force 2 and Task Force 4 deployed south of A-35 road (Paranthan- Mullaittivu) sustained to connect terrorists' pockets from Visuamadu to Puthukkudiyiruppu areas yesterday (Jan 31).
According to the battleground reports, troops of the 57 Div sustained their operations north of Visuamadu Kulam tank and captured a terrorist dugout last morning. Also, troops throughout the operations found a sniper riffle.
Meanwhile, the Task Force 2 troops busy in daylong confrontations with the terrorists north of Udayarkattukualam tank. The Task Force 4 troops too had similar confrontations south of Puthukkudiyiruppu. Both earth sources, and intercepted radio broadcast reports confirmed heavy compensation to the terrorists throughout these clashes.
Separately, snipers deployed beneath the Army 55 Division in Chundikulam forward areas long-established shooting downward of 2 LTTE cadres.
