Sri Lankan Air Force fighter jets launched 6 consecutive air raids at identified LTTE confrontation positions situated West of Puthukudiyirippu and Northwest of the Mullaittivu lagoon today(Feb 2), since 10a.m.
According to Air Force Spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara, MiG-27 strikers took on an LTTE resistance position, 1km West of Puthukkudiyirippu in assistance of the advancing TF-4 troops, at around 10a.m.
Similarly, MiG and K'Fir fighters launched 4 consecutive air strikes at enemy argument positions located Northwest of Mullaittivu lagoon and East of Puthukkudiyirippu connection from 11.20a.m., till 5p.m. The air sorties were conducted in help of the 59 Division troops now last in on the last LTTE defenses in Mullaittivu. Meanwhile, MI-24 helicopter gunships launched ground hold up air assaults Northwest of the Mullaittivu pond, at around 3.30p.m.
