A delegation consisting of the Deputy High Commissioner for Australia Ms. Sophia Mclnture Deputy Head of Mission Norwegian Embassy in Colombo Ms. Hilde Haraldstd and UNCHR Representative in Sri Lanka Mr. Amin Awad who arrived at Palaly airport on May 27 2008 on an official tour were welcomed by Jaffna Commander Major Jeneral G.A. Chandrasiri.
The Jaffna Commander explained to the distinguished delegation of diplomats the current security situation of the Jaffna area and the coordination with the civilian population. The delegates placed their signatures on a log book. They were presented with souveniars.
The delegates met with the Government Agent Jaffna, Mr. K. Ganesh and were briefed on the civilian life in Jaffna. They also made an observation tour of the construction sites of buildings donated by the UNO. They left for Colombo on May 28, 2008.
