Prabhakaran Captured- Final announcement by President Mahinda Rajapaksa,on Sunday morning
An unconfirmed report says Prabhakaran is captured by the Government forces at early hours of today 16th May. Government is waiting for the President to return from Jordan and address the nation. Government sources said a final announcement of the rebel's defeat was due to be made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is currently on a visit to Jordan and was due back in Sri Lanka Sunday morning. It is now clear that Prabhakaran is dead.The kith and kin of LTTE top leaders including VP have moved to the Army held area with forged identities. The army is now in the process of identifying them. Soosei earlier reported to have literally handed-over his family to the Navy (but reported as captured by the Navy). Some of the self-appointed LTTE Colonels, middle range leaders and regional level leaders have been surrendered to SLA . A group of self proclaimed "Government Doctors" has also turned themselves in to the forces of the 58th division, they are, infact, LTTE cadres turned medically trained doctors. Meanwhile Sri Lankans are preparing for a grand scale island-wide celebration tomorrow to commemorate the defeat of Tamil terrorism in the Island and reports coming from Colombo say national flags and fire crackers are all sold out throughout the Island.

A reply to the Secretary of State from USA Citizens

Madam Secretary, we address this response to you as registered Democratic Citizen voters of the United States and the Free World of Sri Lankan Origin. We value democracy and freedom for all people in Sri Lanka.
Your comment concerning the end of the war in Sri Lanka to quote your words, "I think that the Sri Lankan government knows that the entire world is very disappointed that in its efforts to end what it sees as 25 years of conflict, it is causing such untold suffering" is the most undemocratic statement we have ever heard from you having followed your political career with admiration. The entire nation of Sri Lanka's peace loving democratic voters of all ethnicities has suffered through that long 25 year period. We have all lost relatives and friends and fellow citizens over 25 years. The International community didn't come to help us and voice disappointment in the path taken by the LTTE when suicide bombers ran amok in the country and ethnically cleansed parts of it committing Genocide against Sinhalese and Muslims.
Madam Secretary, what you see now is the disruption of life in the Northern part of the country where civilians are being saved from the jaws of the most brutal Terrorist organization that has ever walked this earth in the history of mankind. We know that finally the people of Sri Lanka have a Government that has taken the situation in hand to end the suffering of all people. It is not a pretty picture but it is the creation of the LTTE that many fail to see. For the people of Sri Lanka the failure by successive governments that trusted the LTTE and thought they can be won over was a greater disappointment. Right now, the people of Sri Lanka are living in hope and that should not be a disappointment to anyone who is far removed from the suffering of the people there.
The civilians fleeing are being saved by the very forces referred to in the International Media as the Sinhala Buddhist Army of a Sinhala Buddhist Government. This is a misnomer. In Sri Lanka, there is far more diversity in all walks of life including the military than most countries in the world. That is how the people lived in Sri Lanka having fought for Independence from the British united as one nation of "Ceylonese" of diverse races. The Tamil leaders at that time didn't see a need to divide and the country as they were the privileged class. The Sinhalese majority was the deprived class. The current situation that leads to the final push against the LTTE is the result of the LTTE's drive toward hatred against all those who stood in their way. Death was inevitable to those who spoke out.
You are aware of the number of moderate Tamils murdered by the LTTE. You are also aware of the number of heads of state that were murdered by the LTTE under the orders of Prabakaran. You may not be aware that even in the evacuation there were three suicide cadres that exploded themselves and killed the fleeing civilians. The International Media fight shy to mention their atrocities within the NFZ and lay blame on the Government only for fighting back. The Special Forces took the risk of breaking the enforcement around civilians at 2 a.m. watched on camera by the entire Diplomatic Corps in the Capital Colombo. This is not something that should appear as a disappointment when for the first time video footage provided images of the fleeing civilians being received by the security forces. The footage clearly showed the LTTE cadres pointing their guns at the civilians and shooting some who tried to leave but never made it out alive. That is a great disappointment to be voiced in the International Media.
The Tamil Diaspora who financed the carnage of their own people has not come forward to launch a relief operation and assist the government to provide humanitarian aid. They provided plenty of funds to the tune of US$ 300 Million a year for the destruction of Sri Lanka. Where are they now if they are fighting a Tamil cause and worrying about the Tamil civilians? Actions speak louder than words and banners for political gain. The Tamil civilians are a mere pawn to seek a ceasefire for the escape of the Terror leader. They are poor, powerless and of low caste considered dispensable as collateral damage for saving the LTTE leader. When two of the LTTE's high ranking officers surrender and provided hospital care, there is plenty of evidence to believe that the Government is right in their action.
The LTTE moved their heavy artillery to the NFZ during the 2 day truce for the New Year celebrated by their own Hindu people. The World cried foul when the Government didn't bow their heads to a permanent Ceasefire. The Government knew from previous experience that it will only benefit the Terrorist Leader and the most brutal crew. They would have escaped in a shoot out when all the civilians would have been massacred by them just as they are shooting and killing the civilians trying to leave.
As the head of the Foreign Relations arm of the US, when President Obama and you are trying to mend the image of the US, Sri Lanka's image is being measured in different terms. A Democratic Government trying to save lives about to be destroyed by the LTTE, their own people is viewed harshly while the LTTE atrocities within the NFZ are also being attributed to the forces.
None of the International Agencies have thought about going to the grass roots of the problem to interview the civilians who have sacrificed children, husbands and their freedom under the terror of the LTTE. It is their voice that must be heard to learn if this exercise of eradicating the LTTE is a disappointment or not. The Tamil civilians have the real story that must be accurately made known to the world. Instead of expressing disappointment at the Government that has done what they had to do, please take a different view.
The LTTE promised to reward the Diaspora with a bigger and grandiose separation and eventual take over of an entire nation to ethnically cleanse all non-Tamils as they did in the North and East of Sri Lanka not long ago. Consider the region, the 2 million Tamil people in Sri Lanka have support from Tamil Nadu with about 70 million people. However, Tamil is not the official language in Tamil Nadu while in Sri Lanka; Tamil
Language is the official language for business purposes for Tamil speaking people. Any Tamil Citizen can study in the Tamil language from kindergarten to university.
I am Americanized enough to quote to you a common phrase we use in America, "You got to do what you got to do" and that is exactly what Sri Lanka is doing right now. This is not a fight to discriminate against Tamils. This is a fight to free the Tamils from their own oppressor.
I wish to remind you of the countless number of suicide bombings instigated by the LTTE chief against innocent civilians in public places of worship, markets, trains, office building, buses, oil installations, airports, army headquarters, and congested streets in traffic jams the list goes on and on. Don't the citizens of Sri Lanka have a right to live in peace? What you call a disappointment is an effort at liberating the hostages. They may be undergoing hardship but their lives were spared. Many of our kith and kin didn't have anyone to spare them when LTTE suicide bombs killed people on the streets in peace time and in areas well outside of their claim of a homeland.
Even today, people worry about leaving home for a work day or sending children to school. Young children kiss their parents and leave homes not knowing whether they will return alive because bombs are planted in buses and trains that carry school children.
The innocent Tamils who have come out in this rescue now speak about the brainwashing they went through to be told of hatred against them. It is that same hatred that has been fed to International Media and International politicians who have been bankrolled as referred to in the recent issue of the Economist. It is a US Citizen Bruce Fein who is in the enormous pay of the LTTE that has visited all the legislators to gain support for brazen lies with donors posing as supporters when the funds came from the LTTE. Brazen lies because over 50% of the Tamil people lived freely in Sri Lanka enjoying the best of homes, cars, jobs, education and privileges in areas outside the LTTE dominated region.
The very blood, sweat and tears of the Tamil people went into the coffers of the LTTE in the form of their earnings, their children, their freedom and their lives. The Diaspora fed the coffers living in Western nations chosen for economically favorable refugee and asylum privileges. I ask how so many are spending so many days on the streets of London, Toronto, Ottawa, Washington, New York among many other cities, when those of us who work in countries like the US cannot miss a day of work without hindering the productivity of our employers.
These are now citizens of foreign countries, living out of the benefits provided to them and their productivity is expressed in time spent supporting a terror organization that has violated every human right in the book to be banned in 32 countries. While the fund raising and protests go on, they raise the violent symbols on their flag ignoring flag etiquette that must be followed in venerating national flags of nations.
The US is the leader of the world. Although terrorism from the LTTE Tigers did not come to our doorstep, do not disregard their invisible hand in the suicide bombs invented and now used against our American and NATO forces. Isn't that enough to stir feelings among the American people? The US is democratizing countries to liberate them from tyranny. Why is there less support for the Sri Lanka Government which has preserved Democracy that the silent majority relishes when they are being liberated from the tyranny of an internationally proscribed terrorist group? Just as your support is extended to Pakistan to eradicate terrorism, Sri Lanka's scenes of carnage look the same but are not acknowledged as terrorists causing the same damage as we see on the news media.
Madam Secretary, as a Democrat who believes that your party and President Obama care about immigrants like me, we the people who support Peace, Unity and Harmony in Sri Lanka where our families wish to co-exist with all ethnicities and religions believe the Sri Lanka Government is doing the rights thing.
It is we who are disappointed in your statement of disappointment in seeing suffering when that suffering for the people of Sri Lanka is coming to an end after nearly 30 years. More than the majority community, we are happy to see the innocent voiceless people of Tamil origin who will utter the words of Rev. Martin Luther King and tell the world that they are "Free At Last" and if there is life, we can rebuild a united nation in an era of Peace.
A United Sri Lanka is nothing new. We had it and lost it when the LTTE took some of the Tamil people on the wrong road preaching hatred and lies while a majority of them enjoyed the fruits of freedom in the south. The Diaspora who laid the foundation for their prosperity using the privileges provided by Sri Lanka denied admitting that they had equal opportunity for education and employment and used that education to go overseas and finance the use of terror against their own people. The road to violence leads to nowhere. The future of the people of Sri Lanka has to lead somewhere as a reward for their endurance and we call upon your good offices to help that island to rebuild and move on.

BBC - 'Barefaced' Broadcasting Corporation

BBC, or the British Broadcasting Corporation is renowned for their deliberate and biased misrepresentation of facts and events during its history of news reporting. It is true that human beings are not perfect and susceptible to "human - mistakes". But apparently the reporters and editors of BBC seem to have a knack for deliberately misinforming the events without due diligence. During the last decade, the reports and news items carried by the BBC in the mass media including its official news web, are ample proof of the unethical, unprofessional and conscious misrepresentation of facts and events across the world. A closer view shows that the news items are always more or less biased towards the attitudes of the reporter or the editor.
Despite the mounting proof that BBC has been falsifying current events, the BBC always hides behind a veil of a piece of legislation called the "Freedom of Information Act". They say, that the act provides them "immunity" to publish any item, irrespective of whether it is verified, accurate or not and whether it has been soundly investigated and factually correct as they are not compelled to divulge the source of information. The fact that BBC is in dire need of funds to maintain its operations have also made it susceptible to biases when reporting.
In the last few weeks, the BBC went on a rampage of deliberately reporting and damaging the image of Sri Lanka, with the publication of several news items on the War on Terror in Sri Lanka. The recent one being the article published on 21st of April, 2009, where the BBC website's headline news read "Sri Lanka Army Accused of Carnage" (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/8009459.stm ). The news item's headline apparently was based on the information the BBC had allegedly obtained from a member of the LTTE, a UK proscribed terrorist group. A few hours later however, the title had "mysteriously" changed to read as "Sri Lanka Army accused of 'killing civilians'". Both articles claim to show a video of the civilians hurt by 'alleged' military fire, when in fact the video does not reveal anything of such nature! It also claims that it shows the civilians 'fleeing the war zone', when in fact it is actually depicting the civilians who have escaped from the clutches of the LTTE after the Sri Lanka army opened the LTTE built earth bund!
Further, not a single article in the BBC carried the aerial footage aired by the government of Sri Lanka on the mass exodus of civilians who were rescued by the Sri Lanka army after breaking through the earth bund built by the LTTE. Nor did BBC carry any video footage depicting the LTTE shooting at the fleeing civilians. However these were seen live at the Air Force Operational Room by several diplomatic dignitaries including the ambassador for UK. Obviously a rational mind would also agree that the spy satellite launched just a few days ago by India would have contradicted this aerial footage if it was found to be false!
This is an example of the biased and blatant misinforming and misrepresenting of facts consciously and deliberately. Either the BBC reporter was not aware of the meaning of the word "carnage" or he deliberately used it for personal gains perhaps of the monetary kind. Why else would such a blatant title decorate the headlines of the BBC?
The question then is who would have benefitted? Simply by clicking on the BBC Sinhala website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sinhala/), we find that it still carries the article under the original heading even as at 22nd April, 2009, with a few changes 'here and there'. Ironically the editor of the BBC Sinhala website is a Sri Lankan migrant, Priyath Liyanage and the article claims that a terrorist had contacted the BBC or perhaps Priyath by phone to "inform" the ground situation! The article also claims that the in the backdrop of the phone call, the sound of gun fire and explosions were heard. One would expect a terrorist to be either fleeing for his life or retaliating with gunfire against the Sri Lanka military IF they were indeed being allegedly 'bombed' or 'heavily fired' at by the Sri Lanka Army, rather than waste precious minutes to make an international call to the UK to talk to the BBC! Or perhaps the simple explanation is some fellow somewhere would have called the BBC office with a TV in the backdrop airing a war movie!!! Wonder how the BBC was so sure it was the real thing and not a TV set in the backdrop! But as far as the freedom of information act goes we will never know!!!
What is more amusing is that today (22nd April), the BBC carried a (news) article titled "Bitter end for Sri Lanka's rebels?" by Alastair Lawson, (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8010079.stm) citing the opinions of two individuals - the AFP bureau chief in Colombo Amal Jayasinghe, and the BBC Sinhala editor domiciled in England, Priyath Liyanage. Understandably, the prominence of the article airs the views expressed by the BBC Sinhala editor, despite the fact he had his foot on UK soil - with little knowledge of what is happening on Sri Lankan ground!!! How would he be in a position to give a full commentary or an expert individual opinion - unless of course he had sufficient information from either the LTTE or the SL Government sources to form that opinion?
Is it also possible that BBC is so news deprived that they publish individual opinions??? News to the ordinary man means the reporting of facts and events. Opinions can be expressed as it is a fundamental right of an individual, true - but these opinions need to be balanced where they are made public by a media organization, and hence opinions of critiques of several dimensions would undoubtedly add value to any article. The fact that BBC uses the "easy-come easy go" motto to abstract opinions of the easiest accessible person means that they have surely lost sight of their reporting objective and true journalistic professionalism.
Also we raise the rational question why would BBC has two spoons to serve various terrorist outfits proscribed by the UK government - why whitewash a proscribed terrorist group like the LTTE and black mark another proscribed terrorist group like the Al-Quida? Not a single article of BBC carries factual evidence that LTTE is a freedom fighter and Al-Quida is not. Nor do these articles show that atrocities of LTTE are far less in magnitude compared to that of Al-Quida!
The answers to these rational questions are simple - BBC stoops and sheds its ethics for a few dollars more!!! The main source of BBC's income is from its license fees. Over the period, the financial statements of BBC show that it's profit margins have shown only a marginal growth, especially in Europe and the 'Rest of the world'. Perhaps its bid to 'create' news and contradictory views by reporting arbitrary information is a desperate bid to improve its income, ratings and viewership.
Whatever said and done, the World has to accept the fact that the Sri Lanka Army, together with the Sri Lanka Air Force and Navy are the only military units in the world to genuinely fight a ruthless terrorist outfit; dismantling and destroying its terror grip on innocent civilians; regaining over a 3rd of the countries land; and finally launching the largest ever humanitarian rescue operation by liberating over 100,000 Tamil civilians trapped and held under duress by the LTTE. 2. BBC panel finds broadcaster breached guidelines on Israel

In reporting about Israel, BBC's Middle East Editor has breached the corporation's guideline on accuracy and impartiality, an internal BBC complaints panel on Wednesday stated.
The Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland said that the findings show that the BBC has an anti-Israel "bias" and that the position of the editor, Jeremy Bowen, is "untenable." The corporation rejected these claims.
"The findings are extremely serious," Jonathan Hoffman, the Federation's co-vice chair, told Haaretz. "They demand urgent and visible action by the BBC to restore public confidence. The World Food Program in Sri Lanka has apologized to the Government of Sri Lanka over a grossly false comment on the country by one of its officers broadcast by the BBC, describing Sri Lanka as a Somalia.
The Country Director of the WFP in Sri Lanka, Mr. Adnan Khan yesterday (Dec 10) made the apology at a meeting with Secretary of Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, over a story on the BBC Sinhala Service that quoted an officer of the WFP, one John Campbell who works for the WFP in non-liberated areas, about the IDPs in the North stating that "conditions for displaced people there are as basic as in Somalia".
The WFP's Country Director has told the Secretary MoD that an inquiry would be launched into this matter and an official statement issued on it.

4. BBC chief at centre of blunder over Leibovitz photoshoot with Queen

The BBC was forced to defend one of its top bosses tonight after he wrongly claimed that the Queen had "walked out in a huff" during fly-on-the-wall documentary, leading to a humiliating apology by the corporation to the Royal Family.
Apparently, the scene which purported to show the Queen storming out of the room was, in fact, a shot of her walking into the photoshoot - and that the alleged walkout never happened. After initially apologizing at lunchtime today, the BBC tonight issued a fresh statement trying to explain what it said was a miscommunication.

5. BBC Guilty of Venality in Its Misreporting on Venezuela

Listeners and viewers expecting to find a safe alternative to the corporate-controlled media by turning to the BBC better reconsider their choice based on the vaunted news organization's reporting on Venezuela and specifically on the misinformation it put out in an online piece on October 8 titled - "Mass Venezuela opposition rally." It claims "Tens of thousands of people have marched through the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, in support of the main opposition candidate, Manuel Rosales."
If readers of this piece just went to VHeadline.com, they'd have gotten a much different picture - from the actual photo of those "tens of thousands" that, in fact, may have been all of a single ten thousand or so in the streets in a show of tepid support at best and not what anyone would call "mass." Shame on BBC and its reporter in Caracas Greg Morsbach for lying for the power interests he serves, so he reports what they want put out even if it's not true.
Based in Caracas for the BBC, correspondent Morsbach must know a massive crowd when he sees one as Hugo Chavez draws them every time he addresses a rally that routinely turns out en masse in a tsunami of red-shirted supporters to see, hear and cheer him. He surely can tell the difference between a huge Chavez crowd and the puny one for Mr. Rosales on October 8, many of whom were likely just on the Caracas streets and curious to see what was going on. BBC must think this kind of misreporting is the way to maintain a gilt-edged reputation as a reliable news service. The sad truth is that reputation got tarnished many years ago and went to pieces in the shameless reporting the UK-based news organization did in the run-up to the Iraq war when it's entire news operation went into overdrive functioning as a state propaganda service for our government and theirs.

The World Tribunal on Iraq has indicted media organisations, including the BBC for their role in aiding and abetting US and UK war crimes in Iraq. The World Tribunal received scant attention in the Western media and there have been no headlines reporting the findings on the media. The Tribunal issued its findings on 27th June after a gruelling and harrowing four day session hearing evidence. The charges laid 'Against the Major Corporate Media' were as follows:
1. Disseminating the deliberate falsehoods spread by the governments of the US and the UK and failing to adequately investigate this misinformation. This even in the face of abundant evidence to the contrary. Among the corporate media houses that bear special responsibility for promoting the lies about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, we name the New York Times, in particular their reporter Judith Miller, whose main source was on the payroll of the CIA. We also name Fox News, CNN and the BBC.
2. Failing to report the atrocities being committed against Iraqi people by the occupying forces.
The news article states As the Tribunal noted 'The legitimacy of the World Tribunal on Iraq is located in the collective conscience of humanity', and that Spinwatch took part in the evidence sessions and made several charges as well. BBC, or the British Broadcasting Corporation is renowned for their deliberate and biased misrepresentation of facts and events during its history of news reporting. It is true that human beings are not perfect and susceptible to "human - mistakes". But apparently the reporters and editors of BBC seem to have a knack for deliberately misinforming the events without due diligence. During the last decade, the reports and news items carried by the BBC in the mass media including its official news web, are ample proof of the unethical, unprofessional and conscious misrepresentation of facts and events across the world. A closer view shows that the news items are always more or less biased towards the attitudes of the reporter or the editor.
Despite the mounting proof that BBC has been falsifying current events, the BBC always hides behind a veil of a piece of legislation called the "Freedom of Information Act". They say, that the act provides them "immunity" to publish any item, irrespective of whether it is verified, accurate or not and whether it has been soundly investigated and factually correct as they are not compelled to divulge the source of information. The fact that BBC is in dire need of funds to maintain its operations have also made it susceptible to biases when reporting.
In the last few weeks, the BBC went on a rampage of deliberately reporting and damaging the image of Sri Lanka, with the publication of several news items on the War on Terror in Sri Lanka. The recent one being the article published on 21st of April, 2009, where the BBC website's headline news read "Sri Lanka Army Accused of Carnage" (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/8009459.stm ). The news item's headline apparently was based on the information the BBC had allegedly obtained from a member of the LTTE, a UK proscribed terrorist group. A few hours later however, the title had "mysteriously" changed to read as "Sri Lanka Army accused of 'killing civilians'". Both articles claim to show a video of the civilians hurt by 'alleged' military fire, when in fact the video does not reveal anything of such nature! It also claims that it shows the civilians 'fleeing the war zone', when in fact it is actually depicting the civilians who have escaped from the clutches of the LTTE after the Sri Lanka army opened the LTTE built earth bund!
Further, not a single article in the BBC carried the aerial footage aired by the government of Sri Lanka on the mass exodus of civilians who were rescued by the Sri Lanka army after breaking through the earth bund built by the LTTE. Nor did BBC carry any video footage depicting the LTTE shooting at the fleeing civilians. However these were seen live at the Air Force Operational Room by several diplomatic dignitaries including the ambassador for UK. Obviously a rational mind would also agree that the spy satellite launched just a few days ago by India would have contradicted this aerial footage if it was found to be false!
This is an example of the biased and blatant misinforming and misrepresenting of facts consciously and deliberately. Either the BBC reporter was not aware of the meaning of the word "carnage" or he deliberately used it for personal gains perhaps of the monetary kind. Why else would such a blatant title decorate the headlines of the BBC?
The question then is who would have benefitted? Simply by clicking on the BBC Sinhala website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sinhala/), we find that it still carries the article under the original heading even as at 22nd April, 2009, with a few changes 'here and there'. Ironically the editor of the BBC Sinhala website is a Sri Lankan migrant, Priyath Liyanage and the article claims that a terrorist had contacted the BBC or perhaps Priyath by phone to "inform" the ground situation! The article also claims that the in the backdrop of the phone call, the sound of gun fire and explosions were heard. One would expect a terrorist to be either fleeing for his life or retaliating with gunfire against the Sri Lanka military IF they were indeed being allegedly 'bombed' or 'heavily fired' at by the Sri Lanka Army, rather than waste precious minutes to make an international call to the UK to talk to the BBC! Or perhaps the simple explanation is some fellow somewhere would have called the BBC office with a TV in the backdrop airing a war movie!!! Wonder how the BBC was so sure it was the real thing and not a TV set in the backdrop! But as far as the freedom of information act goes we will never know!!!
What is more amusing is that today (22nd April), the BBC carried a (news) article titled "Bitter end for Sri Lanka's rebels?" by Alastair Lawson, (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8010079.stm) citing the opinions of two individuals - the AFP bureau chief in Colombo Amal Jayasinghe, and the BBC Sinhala editor domiciled in England, Priyath Liyanage. Understandably, the prominence of the article airs the views expressed by the BBC Sinhala editor, despite the fact he had his foot on UK soil - with little knowledge of what is happening on Sri Lankan ground!!! How would he be in a position to give a full commentary or an expert individual opinion - unless of course he had sufficient information from either the LTTE or the SL Government sources to form that opinion?
Is it also possible that BBC is so news deprived that they publish individual opinions??? News to the ordinary man means the reporting of facts and events. Opinions can be expressed as it is a fundamental right of an individual, true - but these opinions need to be balanced where they are made public by a media organization, and hence opinions of critiques of several dimensions would undoubtedly add value to any article. The fact that BBC uses the "easy-come easy go" motto to abstract opinions of the easiest accessible person means that they have surely lost sight of their reporting objective and true journalistic professionalism.
Also we raise the rational question why would BBC has two spoons to serve various terrorist outfits proscribed by the UK government - why whitewash a proscribed terrorist group like the LTTE and black mark another proscribed terrorist group like the Al-Quida? Not a single article of BBC carries factual evidence that LTTE is a freedom fighter and Al-Quida is not. Nor do these articles show that atrocities of LTTE are far less in magnitude compared to that of Al-Quida!
The answers to these rational questions are simple - BBC stoops and sheds its ethics for a few dollars more!!! The main source of BBC's income is from its license fees. Over the period, the financial statements of BBC show that it's profit margins have shown only a marginal growth, especially in Europe and the 'Rest of the world'. Perhaps its bid to 'create' news and contradictory views by reporting arbitrary information is a desperate bid to improve its income, ratings and viewership.
Whatever said and done, the World has to accept the fact that the Sri Lanka Army, together with the Sri Lanka Air Force and Navy are the only military units in the world to genuinely fight a ruthless terrorist outfit; dismantling and destroying its terror grip on innocent civilians; regaining over a 3rd of the countries land; and finally launching the largest ever humanitarian rescue operation by liberating over 100,000 Tamil civilians trapped and held under duress by the LTTE. Put pressure on LTTE to free civilians - President Rajapaksa
President Mahinda Rajapaksa called on all those pressuring his government, both locally and internationally for an extended "humanitarian pause" or a truce, to instead appeal to the LTTE to give freedom of movement "just for one hour" to blameless civilians trapped in the No-Fire Zone (NFZ), in the North.
"If the LTTE gives such liberty was given to the Tamil civilians held back by it for almost 30 years, no one could stop them coming of their own free will to the government forbidden areas", he said.
He was addressing a meeting of ayurvedic physicians, Justices of the Peace, and legislative body of farmer organizations at Temple Trees, Colombo April 18.
Evan as he made this declaration the military reported that more than 2,800 civilians crossed over from the NFZ, where the LTTE is still holding more than a few thousand civilians, to government forbidden Safe Zone. This is the largest number of civilians to cross over from the war zone on a single day in the last few months.
In contrast during the recent 48-hour pause of disagreeable for during the usual New Year period - April 13 & 14, there were hardly any civilians who crossed over from the NFZ, which by then had 68,000 who had fled to freedom. This was so during the 48-hour pause announced by the President in January 2009, too.
President Rajapaksa said the operations of the government Armed Forces were not aimed at the Tamil people but against a terrorist group and they did not annoy or put the Tamil people into any difficulties, though but some politicians were alleging violation of human rights against him, the Defence Secretary and the Army leader. They would rather face the gallows than betray the country, he said.

"They have only three alternatives. Either they have to give in to our armed forces, eat the cyanide pill and commit suicide, or thrust into the sea." Mr. Rajapaksa claimed that when the people accepted his Mahinda Chinthana policies and chosen him as the President, they were not worried about their hunger. "They were solely concerned about the future security of their country. They wanted their place of birth to be free from terrorism, and disintegration as per the agreements inked between the terrorists and the past governments."
"If the LTTE gives such liberty was given to the Tamil civilians held back by it for almost 30 years, no one could stop them coming of their own free will to the government forbidden areas", he said.
He was addressing a meeting of ayurvedic physicians, Justices of the Peace, and legislative body of farmer organizations at Temple Trees, Colombo April 18.
Evan as he made this declaration the military reported that more than 2,800 civilians crossed over from the NFZ, where the LTTE is still holding more than a few thousand civilians, to government forbidden Safe Zone. This is the largest number of civilians to cross over from the war zone on a single day in the last few months.
In contrast during the recent 48-hour pause of disagreeable for during the usual New Year period - April 13 & 14, there were hardly any civilians who crossed over from the NFZ, which by then had 68,000 who had fled to freedom. This was so during the 48-hour pause announced by the President in January 2009, too.

53 Div advances towards Vellamullivaikkal
Troops of 53 Division ongoing with its hostage-rescue operations made additional advances towards Vellamullivaikkal from East of Puthukkudyirippu amidst serious not direct fire launched by the LTTE terrorists from the government affirmed No Fire Zone, yesterday (April 16).

Army hunts down LTTE infiltrators - Piramanthalkulam North
Soldiers of Army 57 Division now manning the active defence in the rear areas of the main theatre of the battle attacked a group of LTTE infiltrators detected in the Piramanthalkulam North area this morning (Apr 2).
According to the defence sources, the quarrel occurred about 11.45 AM. Troops throughout the following search found 3 bodies of slain LTTE cadres, 30 disguise uniforms alike to those damaged by the Sri Lankan soldiers, six T-56 rifles, two radio message sets , eight military packs, two claymore mines , C-4 high explosives , one IED, the length of with other military items.
