Security the length of the Palk Straits and Gulf of Mannar has been additional strengthened in view of the continuing fight flanked by the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE, a top Indian naval official said yesterday.
Indian Naval Commander S R Shinde said the pace would also make sure that there was no penetration of militants into Indian territory.
He said the radars monitoring movement of boats would be shifted from Seeniappa Durgah here to Kudankulam as fishermen unintentionally cross the international maritime border line (IMBL).
Shinde said he did not wait for refugees to come to India as those exaggerated would move only within their territory to safer places. "The Tamils may not choose to irritated to India," he said.
Indian Coast Guard Area Commander Janarthanan said that a completely equipped mechanised patrolling boat the length of with a hovercraft and two helicopters would be assigned for security.
